Self Awareness or Stress Relief?
I believe there are two habits everyone should incorporate into their lives - a habit to relieve both short term and long term stress and a habit that allows for quiet contemplation and improved self-awareness.
We live in stressful times and sustained stress can have a very damaging effect on both our long and short term wellbeing. Some of my favorite stress busting habits are working out, practicing breathwork, meditating, getting out in nature, and talking with a friend.
Self-awareness gives you the gift of perspective and allows you to see yourself clearly, recognize how others see you, and be aware of how you fit into the world at large. Meditation and journaling are two of the best ways to cultivate self-awareness. Working with a coach or therapist is another, more intensive way to help gain perspective.
I created my 1:1 Mentorship Program and its exclusive portal to address both of these crucial areas, with specific breathwork and meditation exercises for each aspect.
If you need help deciding where you could use some more support, check out the following mini quiz!
Rate how much you agree with each statement on a scale of 1-5 (1 being disagree, 5 being strongly agree).
Column A:
I understand my strengths and weaknesses
I can clearly articulate my core values
I am not afraid to be alone with my own thoughts
I have a vision for what I want in life
I am usually able to admit when I was at fault
I am able to see the large part I play in creating my reality
I rarely feel like a victim in my own life
I often spend time in quiet contemplation
Column B:
I feel like I have enough time in a day
I rarely experience symptoms such as irritability or restlessness
I am able to handle all my responsibilities
I feel like I am in control of my life
I often feel calm and at ease
I rarely feel overextended or overwhelmed
I usually get an adequate amount of high quality sleep
I am easily able to focus on the present moment
Add up your total from the two columns. If you have a lower score in column A, you could probably spend a little more time cultivating self awareness. If you have a lower score in column B, you might need to address your stress levels.
