An Ode to Spring
I was walking earlier today when I heard an unfamiliar sound… a bird chirping.
This will be my third spring in New York and I have come to the realization that is by far my favorite season.
After living in California for so long, I had forgotten that there is a real magic to the changing of the seasons.
Especially this year, when we had to suffer through an actual winter, that first day of nice sunny weather almost makes it all worth it… almost.
There is a buzz and joy that you just don’t get when you don’t have real seasons. As well as a sense of sincere appreciation. Appreciation for the extra daylight, for the warmer weather, for the trees and flowers coming to life, for being able to walk outside without being completely miserable.
Spring also represents a time of renewal and optimism.
It is a reminder that no matter how bleak or dark the winter was, eventually the seasons change, spring comes, and everything seems just a little better and brighter.
It is a time of being open, of trying new things, of optimism.
Whether you are living in a place that experiences a change of seasons or not, this is an energy shift that you can tap into.
Reflect on the first three months of the year. Without judgement, look back at how these first few months of 2025 have gone. How have you felt? Have you made progress on your 2025 goals? Note what is coming up for you.
Think about how you want to feel at the end of the year. Instead of just focusing on what you want to accomplish and those external goals, spend a few moments thinking about how you want to feel and why you want those external things. Ensure that your goals are still aligned and adjust as necessary.
What can you commit to in order to move closer to those desired feelings. Take advantage of this renewed energy and commit to some action steps that you can take to move you towards how you want to feel.
