Intention Setting Exercise
Happy 2024!
How has the start of the new year been for you?
I know that the beginning of the new year can often be an overwhelming time and there is a lot of pressure to create big, sweeping changes.
But choosing unsustainable goals without a lot of thought or intention is one of the big reasons that nearly 90% of new year’s resolutions are abandoned by the middle of February.
I do think that there is a lot of benefit in taking some time to think about what you want for the year, but it requires some quiet self-reflection.
Keep reading for a simple exercise that can help you intentionally set a vision for 2024.
This exercise can be done at the beginning of the year, or the start of a new month, or really anytime you want to do some reflection and visualization.
Grab a journal, get quiet, put on some calming music, maybe light a candle or two.
Close your eyes and take some long, deep breaths.
Begin to imagine that it is December 2024 and the year is coming to a close.
Start to visualize all that has happened this year and how you want to feel.
What have you accomplished? Who are you with? Where are you living?
Visualize into all the details and allow yourself to feel everything that comes along with living your dream life in twelve months.
Spend at least five minutes visualizing and then open your eyes and write down everything that came up for you.
When you are done writing, reflect on what you have written and if there are any clear actions that you need to take in order to reach this future place.
Repeat this exercise anytime you want to feel into your future self and what you are trying to create!
