How To Accomplish Anything

After a slow start to the new year, I finally feel like the energy is starting to shift and I am ready to make some forward progress on my 2025 goals.

Whether it's a resolution that you made or something that has been on your wishlist forever, there is a simple truth about accomplishing your goals - it requires small imperfect consistent action. The key word being consistent.

It’s not sexy. It’s kind of boring.

But it can also be liberating.

You don’t need to wake up tomorrow and become a new person. You don’t need to pay money for someone else’s secret formula.

You just need to pick something you want to accomplish, break it down into small steps, and commit to doing those steps, even when life gets messy.

Let’s try it together with some of my 2025 resolutions.

Break 90 in golf

  • Small consistent action - go to the simulator twice per week

  • Accountability - weekly golf lesson

Run 5 miles

  • Small consistent action - run three times a week following personalized plan

  • Accountability - weekly sessions with physical therapist

You’ll notice that I included some accountability in there. There is a reason that even the best athletes have coaches. It is very helpful to have someone else to help formulate a plan and to keep you on track. Plus it is kind of fun to have someone on the journey with you.

This works for even your biggest goals.

One of my intentions for this year is to get to the end of 2025 and be shocked by everything that happened in one year. To do this I am committing to taking some uncomfortable action per day.

So think about your goals. What is one small action that you can commit to right now?

Stick with it, even when it feels like you aren’t making progress, even when its imperfect, and you will be shocked by what you end up accomplishing!
